Two Bake Sales For Breast Cancer

This year, Bostonians are using baked goods to battle breast cancer. You can help by baking, eating, or both! There are (at least) two events coming up around Mother's Day:

Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer
May 2-8, 2011

All proceeds of this fundraiser (now in its twelfth year!) benefit breast cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Over $500,000 has been raised since 2000. During the week leading up to Mother's Day, more than 250 restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and chocolate shops around the state will be offering unique desserts ($3 and up).

Bloggers Bake for Hope
May 4-6

This one's a virtual bake sale (well, kind of virtual - the sale is online but the food is real!) organized by Jen of Beantown Baker and Cara of Cara's Cravings as part of the national fundraiser, Bake for Hope. Bloggers and bakers are invited to register to bake items for the sale, and buyers will bid online between May 4 and May 6. Then, the bakers will ship their items to the winning bidders. Proceeds benefit the Massachusetts chapter of breast cancer charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Keep an eye on the website and Twitter for more information.
